New costumes for Cartoon Illusion
Friday, January 13, 2012
We’re adding some new girls costumes to the Cartoon Illusion. Designed and built by our costume designer Kevin Bennett. They are ticket takers and have a few fun bits in the routine before making Charles disappear. Love the custom made tickets.
Spent a day shooting the Malaysia segment of Magic Around the World. A big thank you to Malaysian magicians, Charlston Lau and Rosen Roy for helping during the filming of this new segment. They contributed local knowledge of the country, the food, the culture, and more.
My first DVD has sold over 10,000 copies all over the world and has subtitles in English and Chinese. It takes the viewer on a trip to 20 countries around the world with me and I teach magic that can be performed with ordinary objects. This new DVD will include more magic, more countries, and more extras!
Woke up again early this morning to appear on another morning talk show. I chose some different magic for this appearance and did a card trick with the host, then made the name of the channel appear magically on a sheet of paper. The studio was very small and the set is a virtual set except for the sofas, table, and rug. We shot against a green screen and the rest was added to make it look like a big set.
I was told not to wear green, but I came into the studio with a bright green shirt on for fun. The look on everyone’s face was pure shock and surprise. Isn’t that what a magician is supposed to do?
Today I did an appearance on a morning show in Malaysia called Hello on 2. I got up at 5 am and was on the road at 5:45am. Got to the studio. They asked me to do two magic bits, one at the intro, and then a longer one later. I did the spoon bending for the first bit of about 30 seconds. Then the dental floss broken and restored with music for the second one. After the magic, I did a 10 minute interview with the hosts.
I was surprisingly very comfortable and was only a little nervous at the beginning because they were not clear on how the opening segment would be. It really seemed to go well and looked good on camera. I did the spoon in rehearsal a few times and the cameraman was totally fooled. Very funny.
Starring in new show Glitz in Genting, Malaysia (EXTENDED through September, 2011)
Monday, November 08, 2010
My new show opened on November 1st in Genting Highlands, Malaysia. The show has been extended by popular demand through September 2011.
I’m starring in a huge show called Glitz in Genting Highlands, Malaysia through September, 2011. The show has lots of new, original illusions including the world’s first 4D Magic Illusion and the highest Straightjacket Escape ever performed in a show in Asia. Hanging 50 feet above the stage.
Had a great time performing in Taiwan and worked with the incredible performer Terry Parade. He is also a photographer and took this shot of me during the show. Has a very Sammy Davis Jr. feel to it. I like it. Thanks, Terry!
One of my favorite illusions has finally made it into the Wonders Show.
I’ve added my own style to the design of the props and of course a few of my own twists to the performance that have not been done before. I love the new choreography and the cute bumps. They are like the ghosts from Pac Man. (A game I love)
We’ve added a new levitation into the show that gets an amazing reaction from the audience. You can actually hear the gasp from the stage. A very magical feeling and that feeling is the reason I became a magician.
We have updated the show costumes and have some great new designs. This one is from the Stomp routine and really looks great onstage. Lots of color, rhinestones and even a magical costume change for the finale.
We got this picture from someone who saw the show and ran into us in Paris. We had a great day, shot some magic for the Magic Around the World DVD and ate some delicious French baguettes.
I was extremely lucky to have one of my best friends, Jon Butler, working in Hawaii for a couple weeks. We were able to spend the day together while the ship was in port.
We were able to eat, take a drive around the beaches and even take a tour of the ship. I convinced him to come for a cruise with his wife.
I’m enjoying the beautiful islands of Hawaii and the island called Fanning Island in the Kiribas. You can see the island on my Magic Around the World DVD. Available on my Magic Products page, of course.
